Upon my discovery of Fashioning Change, I posted about the site on the Book, but since then I’ve had the pleasure of chatting with CEO and Founder, Adriana Herrera, and well, I want to extrapolate. Partially because dressing ethically sometimes seems impossible but also because I actually use this site and really love it.

Part of what we believe here at GHoF is that stylish, fabulous ladies like yourself (yes, you) can be eco-friendly, ethical, sustainable, responsible – whatever term you’d prefer to use – but not sacrifice any fabulousness for it. Well, Fashioning Change is on the same page and therefore we heart them.

It’s happened to me personally about a billion times. I find an amazing item, I can picture it in my head in thousands of different stylish ways, but it’s made by a brand that I don’t want to support. And I longingly say to myself, “if only that was eco-friendly.” Then I sigh and look away.

Well, Fashioning Change addresses this issue by giving you a database of “Wear This, Not That” items, in addition to a regular online shopping experience, to help you effectively weed out brands that are doing more harm than good and integrate more responsible ones into your wardrobe. Frankly, this is exactly what I need every single time I go shopping. Even better, if you purchase any of the looks they feature in the WTNT sections, they donate one percent of purchases to organizations working on human rights issues within the fashion industry. Here’s a perfect example of an opportunity to purchase an ethical dress instead of a more harmful one:

Of course, I also really love seeing “scrappy and passionate twenty-something social entrepreneurs,” as they call themselves, at work. I relate! Another great team member, who actually swims in my own circles here in NYC, is Kestrel Jenkins. She’s done tons of amazing stuff and worked in the sustainable fashion sector with People Tree, Global Action Through Fashion, FashionMeGreen, The GreenShows and Ecouterre. Not to mention she’s just a downright stylish gal. My point is, I trust the leaders at Fashioning Change to uphold high standards in terms of ethical fashion and you should too!

Here are some pieces I love and that you can shop:

Pippi Hepburn Vegan Bag Distressed Faux Suede Flop, Knots and Stones Dalmata Necklace, Maiya Rachel Dress, Afia Gem Gown, Love Me Again Heart Sweater, Proud Mary Ochre Bucket Bag, Zkano Ivy Thigh Highs, Replay Vintage Hip Nighties Sunglasses

Anyway, FC is in Beta right now and I only expect it to get even better than it already is as time goes by. So check them out and at the very least, put some new ethical brands on your radar.

Also, stay tuned for some looks styled by yours truly on Fashioning Change! I’ll keep you posted.

XOXO,

Zanna
