Ever since the destruction of my favorite vintage penny loafers that came straight from my mother’s closet, I have been in search for the perfect pair of sustainable slip-ons. My old ones seriously just melted off my feet. Well one of them did. As I was walking the stitches came out and all of a sudden I had one full shoe and a blob of material to my left. So, I do plan to get them repaired, but have since been perusing the web to see if I can find any replacements or just duplicates. After all, fall is coming and they are probably the best shoes ever to have in this transition season.

So maybe I exaggerated a bit, but they’re actually worse than they look!

Oh, if you too are on this search, here’s a tip: searching for “organic loafers” will only bring you bakers. Get it? Loafs…of bread? Yeah.

So, it seems that the way to go here is to shop vintage. I searched the web for quite some time to come up with very few pair of actually sustainable loafers made from new materials. If you have any suggestions, throw ‘em out there!

Here are a few I love. Any thoughts on which style I should go for?

These Miss Me loafers are from Lulu’s and are “vegan leather” AKA leather-free. The heels and such are rubber and they’re all man-made materials. For $38, it’s not a bad deal, right? And I’m a huge fan of the tassles.

Luxurious! I heart these vintage, embossed loafies. With lots of hearts. They’re $43 from Oracle Muse Vintage via Etsy (otherwise known as the place for all things wonderful).

Okay, if you’re a size 5.5 snag these now! Also – why are your feet so tiny? Mine are almost double yours. Nifty. Basic brown loafers are a must-have and these vintage versions from Urban Outfitters go for $109.

Love! I know, these vintage shoesies are just stunning. I wish they weren’t so teeny-tiny (Women’s 5.5 AGAIN), but they’re great inspiration for my search. Check them out on Marina Williams an Etsy shop. They’re $39 and if you have mini feet and don’t buy these, I spit on you.

Anywho – lest I get carried away and just start posting every pair of vintage loafers I find on Etsy, I’ll end here. But I will certainly update you once my I have new slip-on confections on my feet. Or at least NYC bound toward my feet.

Lots of loafer love,

Zanna
