Today is yucky and in a brilliant move, I chose to wear cloth shoes this morning, which obviously make excellent puddle stomping footwear. Yay me! Anywho, upon waking up and wading through the yuck, I decided to provide you all with an eco-friendly rain guide. I wont bore you with my pathetically wet shoe situation any longer (even though you should feel sorry for me!!) and I’ll get right to it.

Step 1: Snag a vintage trench coat

You honestly can’t go wrong with this purchase as trenches never go out of style. Just think how long snazzy women have been rocking them! Here are a few I found on Etsy that are seriously chic and most are pretty affordable. Plus, you can pop the color, throw on some shades and play detective, when you’re bored. Probably best to do that in private.

1. Vintage 70’s Vinyl Trench, $60, Dianadwain Vintage via Etsy

2. Vintage 80’s Cargo Trench, $58, LapineOurs Vintage via Etsy

3. Vintage 60’s Pattern Trench, $85, Etsy seller Foxybyproxy

4. Vintage Burberry Trench, $279, Marion Vintage via Etsy

Step 2: Accessorize accordingly

An umbrella is an obvious accessory, but don’t miss the opportunity to rock an adorable hat, cute boot socks and of course some galoshes. I’ve selected some fab examples below, but you’ve got lots of freedom here to be cute and stay dry. When selecting your handbag, make sure to wear a waterproof one, especially if you’re carrying around your precious lap top. Messenger bags are a good idear because you’ll be hanging onto your umbrella for dear life and won’t have the luxury of two free hands.

Umbrella: totes Eco Umbrella, $21, totes Isotoner: This umbrella’s canopy is made from 100% recycled PET (PolyEthylene Terephthalate) bottles, the frame is made from 70% recycled aluminum, the handle is bamboo and has a waxed hemp strap.

Hat: Costo Bobble Hat, $81, Yooxygen: This freakin’ adorable hat is made from recycled wool and viscose.

Socks: Klen Grey Swallows Sock, $25.45, shoebuy.com: So these socks are technically men’s but socks are pretty unisex so screw that because their adorable and also 85% bamboo.

Boots: Original Rain Boots, $125, Hunter: Hunters are made with from natural rubber and are some of the best wellies on the market.

Bag: English Retreads Bentley Bag, $135, eBags.com: I love this bag so much because it’s really chic and made with reclaimed inner tubes. How cool? It will be totally waterproof, obviously, as inner tubes are made for floating in lazy rivers, right? Right.

Step 3: Go puddle jumping!!!

Stay dry,

Zanna
